Metsje de Jong

Liberation

Liberation

Material: Acryl painting on canvas
Size: 37 x 37 cm

This painting is a canvas with a story. It’s called Liberation , The red splatters is blood which refers to the war. The bleu stripes ending in a drop is a reference to rivers of sweat and tears. Tears of sadness over a loss and tears of joy when your loved one returns unharmed from the war. The prison refers to oppression and deprivation of freedom. The open door with the flags symbolizes liberation. And when you are released you will jump for joy. Hopefully we can keep our freedom for a long time!
Metsje de Jong (Metsje's Art) started taking painting lessons in 2012, and in the following years she expanded her hobby with drawing (pastel) pencils. She loves drawing portraits (people and animals) the most. But she finds everything a challenge to draw or paint.
