This triptych explores time and place. A figure in Lederhose represents my Bavarian roots, while a puppet-like dancing woman symbolises constrained joy. The right figure swept by the wind signifies a yearning for freedom. Abstract, wild layers of acrylic and ink reflect the tension between past comfort and future aspirations.
Born in 1975 in Erding, Bavaria, I began studying Cultural Anthropology in Berlin after completing my high school diploma. However, as my interest in art grew, I decided to move to the Netherlands to study Graphic and Typographic Design at the Royal Academy of Art in The Hague, where I earned my bachelor’s degree in 2000.

Since childhood, I have been passionate about painting and drawing. During my time at the academy, I further developed my unique painting style. Since 2002, my work has been exhibited in Europe and the Americas. I have also participated in various Artist-in-Residence programs and workshops and have given lectures, particularly in Spanish-speaking countries such as Can Serrat in Spain, Altos de Chavón in the Dominican Republic, Simposio Internacional de Cerámica in Camagüey, Cuba, Casa Alegre in El Salvador, Proyecto’Ace in Buenos Aires, Argentina, and Taller 72 in Lima, Peru.

After graduating, I started working as a freelance illustrator, web, and graphic designer, with projects for foundations. I have been a part-time lecturer in the Communication and Multimedia Design department at University of Applied Arts in Rotterdam, where I conduct workshops in Visual Design, Urban Sketching, and Ritual Design, and mentor students in their final bachelor year.

I have a loose, intuitive, and experimental way of working. To capture the essence of the moment as directly and truly as possible, I allow my contact with the material and my surrounding environment to inspire me. My mode of expression depends on the subject and its environment. I consider my art as a documented snapshot of my experiences and observations of life, both in my surroundings and in different cities and cultures. Because there are multiple modalities in which these observations can be presented, I work in various disciplines including drawing, painting, printmaking, and ceramics. Discovering, seeing, understanding, and then producing meld into one natural process for me.
