Peter A J De Ridder is een atypische kunstenaar die eigenzinnig zijn eigen stempel wil drukken op kunst. Door te kijken, te proberen maar ook door direct te willen creëren wat hij voelt of ziet, drukt hij zich uit in soms subtiele soms harde lijnen, gebogen of net strakke vormen en zachte maar ook felle kleuren. Door zoveel mogelijk stijlen uit te proberen en verschillende technieken toe te passen, waarbij hij zichzelf uit boeken onderwees, het internet afstruinde naar inspiratie, lessenpakketten volgde en zelfs een paar jaar academie volgde, ontwikkelde hij stilaan zijn eigen stijl. Inspiratie haalt hij uit de dingen die hem omringen, uit het leven zelf en uit zijn fantasie. Zet al zijn werken naast elkaar en je krijgt een caleidoscoop te zien van zoveel verschillende schilderwerken, potloodtekeningen en houtskoolbewerkingen dat je als mens denkt dat het hier over creaties gaat van verschillende kunstenaars. Toch zijn ze allen slechts het werk van één man : “PeDRi” het logo waarmee hij al zijn werken handtekent. PeDRi blijft nog altijd evolueren en het is interessant om te volgen waar hij ons nog zal naartoe brengen. By looking, trying, but also by directly wanting to create what he feels or sees, he expresses himself in sometimes subtle, sometimes hard lines, curved or neat shapes and soft but also bright colours. By trying out as many styles as possible and applying different techniques, educating himself from books, scouring the internet for inspiration, taking lesson packages and even attending a few years of academy, he gradually developed his own style. He takes inspiration from the things that surround him, from life itself and from his fantasy. Put all his works side by side and you get to see a kaleidoscope of so many different paintings, pencil drawings and charcoal treatments that you, as a person, think that this is about creations by different artists. Yet they are all only the work of one man: “PeDRi” the logo with which he signs all his works. PeDRi continues to evolve and it will be interesting to follow where it will take us next.
