I am/was very inspired by Willem de Kooning and his method of painting; the pink, light blue and off-white colours are made his way. I painted the edges.
Jeannette van der Schaaf-Hofman (1943)
In 2003 she exchanged the heavy double bass after 30 years of playing in chamber orchestra’s in her former love: drawing and painting. Since than there was a great development thanks to various teachers / artists in the Netherlands.
The impressions during trips in several countries, expositions in museums and art galleries, music by the Concertgebouw Orchestra in the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam, watching historical photograph’s and interesting objects, meeting different cultures and their representitives are inspiring her. All those impressions come together in her visible ‘compositions’.
She is a painter, mixed media and coldwax artist on canvas, paper and wooden panels. Often there is a mix of figurative and abstraction with room for your own interpretations, to discover the secrets after what was created.
In 2011 she was winner of ‘Talens Palet’ in the region Rivierenland in the Netherlands which created the possibility to expose in the ‘Coda Museum’ in Apeldoorn.
Her paintings were exposed in art galleries in The Netherlands and Germany and are decorating homes in The Netherlands, Germany, France and Jordan.
She is also one of the permanent artists of the Gallery ‘Kunst bij Karel’ in Gorinchem, The Netherlands.
