In this beautiful composition, the blues evoke a nocturnal atmosphere and how leaves are playing in the shade. In the foreground, the golden foliage let its light burst. This strong contrast animates the canvas with a dynamic movement and creates an effect of depth.
I was born in France and now live in the Netherlands in Zuid-Limburg. For several years, I explored different modes of expression as a hobby: even today, I am a jack of all trades looking for a release on the grounds of exploration.
I started to practice as a self-taught , then very quickly I went further and completed a complete course at the Ecole des Beaux-Arts de Castres. I was a student of Marc Fonvieille’s studio for several years, then of Isabelle Monférier. I refined and affirmed my style for several years.
Finally, I dared to jump the gun and gave up my professional activities to register as an independent artist. I participated in several exhibitions, alone or in groups, in France and the Netherlands. I am represented by my gallery owner (Marx & Marx - Valkenburg) and I have already sold in and outside Europe. (France – The Netherlands – Germany – Gabon – USA)
I paint with acrylic canvases in which the motifs refer to nature and more precisely to the leaves of the trees. I am inspired by plant elements and I build collections, accumulations, overlays. I like to play with colors, contrasts and repetitions. I like to play with shapes and spaces between shapes. I’m looking for a structure in this profusion.
To make this intention emerge, I paint with transparent layers "in negative" so as to make appear the lower layers that create the pattern. The color overlays give rich and harmonious results.
The title of this series, begun several years ago, "Millefeuilles" evokes both the motifs and, like the famous French pastry of the same name, the superposition of multiple layers.
Incidentally, I occasionally engrave linocuts.
