Jan Peter van Opheusden was born on 12 March 1941 in Eindhoven. At a young age he was good at drawing at primary school (his father was also a painter in addition to being a teacher), he was always called forward to draw on the blackboard. At the age of 14 he already has an exhibition in a gallery in Katwijk aan Zee. He went to study at the now internationally renowned Academy of Industrial Design in Eindhoven (nowadays Design Academy). Initially in many small galleries. In 1985 he met gallery owner Lambert Monet and art collector (distant family of French impressionist Claude Monet). , which brings him all over the world Gstaad, Amsterdam, Hamburg, Los Angeles, Tunis. After his mega exhibition in 1998 under the roof of the Grande Arche in Paris, Jan Peter's work, also in a larger circle, is increasingly appreciated. his work can be found worldwide in large collections of mainly private collectors. In 2008 just before the Olympic Games in Beijing, he had a solo exhibition in the TODAY ART MUSEUM in Beijing. In 2014 in the Arma Museum in Ubud Indonesia and subsequently In the Erasmushuis in Jakarta. In 2015 there was the exhibition at the Xinhua Art Institute (Shanghai). I don't paint beautiful things and experience shows that people buy my work because it radiates warmth. I experience painting as my passion. To be able to work well, I have to feel good when painting myself. therefore enjoy my work, that is wonderful. The viewer may, as far as I am concerned, finish the work with his own fantasy. His or her imagination often sees something completely different from mine and that adds an extra dimension to my work.
