SC450 Lockdown

SC450 Lockdown

Material: Acrylic on canvas
Size: 50 x 50 cm

Lockdown, quarantaine, isolation, travel restrictions, everyone in their own cubicle, I feel trapped. The primary things in life become important. Life is gray, but every now and then there is color and there’s light at the end of the tunnel.
I use the dot-technique to create abstract paintings. This technique gives depth and an organic character to my work. I paint with acrylic on canvas and use Chinese chopsticks and skewers to apply the dots. Creating is a meditative proces that gives positive energy which I express in my paintings. Key concepts in my work are balance, structure, letting go and drifting away. The repetition I use contribute to this, as does the dot-technique. My work is colorful just as life and the world are colorful. I gain inspiration from the things I see around me, often during my travels. This can be fabrics, tiles, paving, paintings, nature, etc. But also things that happen in society can be a source of inspiration. Painting is a way to express how I feel about these events. My work has been exhibited at home and abroad. Among other things in Kunst10daagse Bergen (Gallery Het Wapen van Bergen), VeniceLands ArtPrize Italy, Gallery PLAY room Zaandam, Project ArtMap Braga Portugal, Atelierhaus Aachen Germany, Kunstuitleen Alkmaar, Gallery Bos Fine Art the Hague.
