Painting of the Year 2023 is a global election, open to all painters. Until September 30th 2023 everyone can register for this competition.
You can do this by uploading a photo of your best painting(s) (maximum four) on this website.
The subject, the technique and the size of the painting are completely free. So acrylic is allowed, as well as oil paint and also watercolor. As long as it is a painting in a wet technique (and not a drawing). Animals, landscapes, flowers, abstract, minimalistic, impressionistic, everything is allowed! Your painting can be square, horizontal or vertical, round or rectangular.
Everybody who loves painting can participate with as many paintings as he or she wants. Participating is very simple: you register by making an account. After that you log in and upload your paintings before September 30th.
Between October 1st and 31st the professional jury will evaluate all entries by giving a grade (digital and anonymous). This results in 50 nominees with the highest average grade. These works are by 50 unique artists. The 50 nominees will be known on November 1st and they must send in their painting for assessment before November 15th.
After receiving the paintings, the professional jury will assess the 50 nominated works and determine the 30 finalists, the top 10 and the winner.
Between October 1st and November 30th the public can vote for their favorite entry(s) via the website. By voting, the public determines the winner of the Audience Award which will be announced on December 1st or short thereafter.
The 50 nominees and the winner of the Audience Award can exhibit their work + 1 extra painting at a special sales exhibition at RRMND Gallery (Roermond: www.rrmnd.nl) from Saturday January 20thuntil March 2nd 2024.
Every participant can also chose to exhibit and possibly sell his painting at Art Eindhoven 2024 on February 3rd and 4th (www.arteindhoven.nl).
In 2023 Art Eindhoven was visited by 3,500 people in one weekend.
The winner of Painting of the year 2023 will be announced on Saturday January 20th 2024 at a special prize giving ceremony at RRMND Gallery (Roermond: www.rrmnd.nl).
